Real Estate

The Eastern end of Long Island, better known as The Hamptons is a coveted enclave with coastal and country homes, mansions, and estates. It’s a great place to live, vacation, and most importantly, shop. Fortunately, there’s no shortage of great places to furnish and decorate these incredible dwellings. Here are some of the best places to buy furniture and decor in The Hamptons. While this is by no means a complete list of home furnishing retailers, it consists of long-standing favorites, new stores, as well as a few pop-up shops.

Hideaway Hamptons Pop-Up

Hideaway Hamptons will surely be the most talked-about pop-up of the season. Scheduled for July 26 and July 27 at The Reform Club in Amagansett, several female-founded brands will debut their latest collections. This includes Erin Donahue Tice, a fine artist known for her beautiful paintings. Traditional style lovers are sure to swoon over Katie Kime and her fabulously printed decor and apparel, as well as sophisticated tableware and linens from Dondolo (which also makes the sweetest-looking dresses for children and adults) and Berner & Co.

In addition to home decor, several fashion brands will also be at the pop-up including uniquely fun sportswear from Byrdie Social Wear, fabulous dresses from Sue Sartor, stylish accessoires from Capitol, Cesoli, Mignonne Gavigan, and Pamela Munson along with chic shades by Transparent Sunglasses. It’s a great place to decorate and look good while doing it.

Kathy Kuo Home

Famed interior designer Kathy Kuo took her online platform to a new level in 2021, opening up a beautiful brick-and-mortar store in South Hampton. Located at 30 Jobs Lane, the 4000 square foot space has everything needed to furnish a dream Hamptons home with large staples like beds, chairs, and tables as well as a sweet selection of kids and baby furniture. With a large line of customizable pillows and other decor, it’s truly a one-stop shop for everything sophisticated.

Ultimate Hamptons Girls Night Out Pop-Up

Kathy Kuo will also be participating in the Ultimate Hamptons Girls Night Out on Wednesday, August 10th from 4:00-8:00 pm at 71 Millstone Road in Watermill. It will surely be a great event to pick up home and fashion items from a variety of brands. LoveShackFancy, in addition to their signature dresses, offers a variety of lovely flower print home items including table linens, bedding, and wallpaper among other traditionally-inspired decor. Millstone Flowers will also be participating as well as Stephanie Gottlieb which is known for its chic and stylish jewelry and accessories, along with Bandier, Barbara Sturm, Toccin, Terez, and Dazzle Dry.

Serena & Lily

Serena & Lily might have locations nationwide, but there’s no singular brand that truly reflects Hamptons style more. From the hydrangea bushes on the perimeter of the building to a display of local art, this outpost embraces both the coastal and traditional styles the area is known for. This includes lots of charming rattan and wicker pieces in addition to a beautiful outdoor line.

The Beach Market in the outdoor patio area, which stocks towels, beach chairs, and umbrellas is also not to be missed.

Wyeth

Housed in a cool, dark wood building, Wyeth has a bit of a mysterious vibe to it, but it’s the best source of mid century modern furniture in the area. The store has a large selection of both vintage and new pieces. Older items are repaired, restored, and refinished in Brooklyn, so customers can take them home and immediately enjoy their purchases.

Wyeth’s selection is well curated with lots of unusual pieces that aren’t easily found elsewhere. Better yet, the store’s new pieces look truly authentic, so they can easily be mixed and matched with vintage finds.

Rumrunner Home

With locations in both Wainscott and South Hampton, Rumrunner is a wonderful local place to source coastal-inspired furniture. There is an abundance of items in neutral shades like plush sofas, sleek tables, fine grasscloth dressers, and beds along with decor and accessories in pops of ocean-like hues. Keeping in line with everything Hamptons, the vibe is more sophisticated than kitschy.

Wölffer Estates

Wölffer Estates is a famed local winery more widely known for its delicious Summer In A Bottle Rosé. With a delightfully charming gift shop onsite, Wölffer sells decorative items based on the bottle’s design including the Summer In A Bottle Carafe, as well as farm stand candles and wine glasses. This is an easy spot to pick up a quick hostess gift or a few small things for the kitchen.

Mecox Gardens

With locations in Southampton, Manhattan, Palm Beach, Los Angeles, Napa, Dallas, Houston, and High Point, Mecox Gardens is still one of the first brands associated with The Hamptons by locals. The store, which sits on two acres, has chic pieces truly reflective of the local style. A favorite of interior designers, Mecox carries staples as well as decor, accessories, and lots of outdoor furniture to create the backyard of your dreams.

Please note that Mecox plans to close the Southhampton outpost and re-open in Water Mill during the fall of 2022.

Matriark

East end feminists unite! Founded by Patricia Assui Reed, Matriark is a store in Sag Harbor that features women-owned brands, designers, and artisans exclusively. In addition to apparel and shoes, the store has art and other decorative items for the home. It’s a great source for unique finds and gifts such as L’Avant Collective natural cleaning products (in signature gorgeous packaging), candles from Harlem Candle Co, Poetica home scents, and vases from Liadain Warwick Smith among so many other things.

The store also supports female artists in an even stronger way, hosting fine art exhibitions such as The Way You Embrace the Stars and the Moon by Shelter Island-based artist Blair Borthwick.

Hildreth’s Home Goods

Need just about anything for the home? Hildreth’s, which has been family-owned and operated since 1842, probably has it. With a vast array of furniture, high-end bedding, bath products, housewares, linens, area rugs, Hunter Douglas window treatments, and lighting, this old-school shop is full of great finds.

In addition to the main store, Hildreth’s has a separate patio furniture shop just a few doors down.

Clic

From eye-catching art inspired by the beautiful local beaches, embroidered French bulldog cocktail napkins, to pillows and baskets galore— Clic is small in size but vast in offerings. There are also larger items such as marble tables and life-size sheep statues. It’s also worth noting that Clic is one of the few boutiques with a focus on modern design items such as artistic skate decks for wall mounting.

In addition to this location, Clic also has boutiques in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Montecito, Marin, Ojai, and St. Barts.

Roller Rabbit

Looking for vividly printed decor? Do you love color? Situated in the heart of East Hampton, Roller Rabbit has bright bedding, bold pillows, and beautiful beach chairs featuring original prints from India. From pillowcases to sheets, quilts, and beach towels, Roller Rabbit is also known for its kid’s items. The store also has plenty of fun apparel to wear at home such as pajamas from their recent collaboration with Lele Sadoughi.

HomeGoods

With nearly 900 locations nationwide, HomeGoods probably isn’t a store most associate with The Hamptons. Still, with generously long store hours, (closing at 9:30 pm Monday through Saturday) and lots of parking, there simply isn’t a more convenient (and affordable) place to shop out East. While this location has a smaller footprint compared to the average HomeGoods, it’s filled with fun finds and essentials for Hampton life including high thread count sheets, beach towels, baskets, pet bowls, and cute melamine wine glasses perfect for drinking rosé by the pool. There are also some larger pieces available that feel curated for the locality with an inventory that constantly changes.
